  1. Race report by Drew Ellis

The Sven Boehringer Family Reunion race was held at The Backyard in Battle ground Washington. The race ran from July 13th-16th. Format was 4 qualifiers and single mains for nitro and triple mains for electric. The race was held in memory for Sven, a great racer and friend to the RC community.

The track is like no other in the states. Full ribbon and banked with camber turns. It has a superfast line that demands maximum focus.

Team XRAY was well represented at the event with drivers from all over the US and Canada. The team worked hard to find pace and setups.

In Stock TC Dan Hammon was showing pace and would end of putting it 2nd on the grid for the start of the triple mains. Andrew Doherty was right there also qualifying 3rd. Tim Copp would put his XRAY 4th for the start. Devin Patterson put his XRAY 5th. 4 out of the top 5 cars were XRAY.

In Mod TC, JJ Wang was showing the pace early on, but had some tire issues but will still mange a 4th qualifier to start the triple A mains. Dave Ehlich making his comeback tour would put his XRAY 5th on the grid.

In Spec GT, Andrew Doherty put it 2nd on the grid to start the main. Dick Reece would start 4th. John Gonzales put it 5th. 3 out of the top 5 were XRAY’s.

In Nitro TC, Richard St Cyr would be starting the 30 minute main 4th on the grid. Paul Lemieux was lined up 5th.

In 1/8, Blake Bell put it 7th top start the 30m min main. Paul Lemieux and Dana Mckee taking the bump spots to start 10th and 11th.

In GT8, Ryan Newbury put his GTX8 4TH. Scotty Ernst with his rent a GTX8 would start 6th for the main.

  3. Ecco un breve ma chiarissimo report del campionato europeo "B" 1/8 offroad appena concluso.

Editors Note - The "B" Euros are open to any driver not having finished in the top 50 of the preceeding 2 "A" Euros

Under slightly darker skies than seen for the rest of the weekend, winners of the two Semi finals Micha Widmaier and Thomas Musso led the field away from their respective P1 and P2 grid slots, with the battle for the European B Championship win around the very bumpy ABC Réding circuit quickly distilling into a battle between these two. Musso took an early lead and quickly established a 4 second gap, but as the leaders started encountering traffic Widmaier was able to reduce the gap and appeared to have the faster car.

Both drivers took their first fuel stops at the 7.5 minute mark, and such was their pace advantage over the rest of the field they rejoined still in P1 and P2, both taking turns at the front of the field as small mistakes and backmarkers affected their speed. Widmaier still seemed to have a pace advantage over Musso, but was making mistakes more frequently, the faster laps of the German being cancelled out by the consistency of the Monaguesque driver.

A mistake during the middle stages of the race sent Widmaier down the pit lane six minutes into a stint, so rather than losing time driving through his pit crew took the opportunity to refuel him at that point. This would mean that he would need one extra short stop towards the end of the run, so he set about building the lead of around eight seconds he'd need to make up the extra stop from Musso.

Musso was able to relax slight safe in the knowledge that as long as he could keep Widmaier in his sights, the need to do one less stop was likely to present him with an unassailable lead towards the latter stages of the race. Unfortunately, a drive through penalty for Musso for an unsafe release into the path of another car during the stop cancelled out the advantage he had gained, so with one stop each remaining Widmaier now had a five second advantage. He pressed home his superior pace, just making the line before the tone to give himself a victory lap. Musso came across the line in a well deserved second place with qualifying pacesetter Vincent Meertins occupying the final podium position.

  5. Claus Ryeskov report

    Danish Nats 1.

The first round of DM nitro was held in Naestved. Danish summer at 25 degrees and no wind made the perfect weather for racing.

We got a lot of practice on Thursday and Friday and were prepared for the race Saturday. The two new XRAY drivers, coming from Electric cars were actually driving very well.

It was the first race for many, but Claus Ryeskov had been driving three nitro race this year, so he was driving 1 sec. faster than the others drivers.

    Final start grid:

    Claus Ryeskov XRAY

    Thomas Mogensbaek XRAY

    René Kjellerup XRAY

    Tom Limkilde XRAY

    Mads Merrild

    Rasmus Skjoldborg Jakobsen

    Lars Bo Larsen XRAY

    Thomas Mortensen XRAY

After the qualifications we could see that there was a big tire consumption, so there had to be plans for the pit strategy.

The final started and Claus quickly pulled away from the field. René also started well and took second place. Thomas and Tom had a big battle for the 3rd place.

After half of the race, Claus was in and changed tires and came straight behind René, but was much faster on new tires and after a half of a lap, Claus was in the lead again.

Time went and it turned out that everyone had to change tires in the finale.

    Final result:

    1.         Claus Ryeskov - XRAY NT1

    2.         René Kjellerup - XRAY NT1

    3.         Tom Limkilde - XRAY NT1

    4.         Thomas Mogensbaek - XRAY NT1

    6.         Mads Merrild

    7.         Rasmus Skjoldborg Jakobsen

    8.         Thomas Mortensen - XRAY NT1

    Nitro 1:8

  6. Report interessante by Alessio Mazzeo

First big race, first big test. Very hard track layout and very difficult track conditions. We lost one test day to the rain. In qualy I was always fast but I have done a lot of mistakes because I didn’t have much feeling for the track. In Q1 I closed 2nd behind Bruno; in Q2 I have flipped after 8 laps and I finished 10th. In warm up practice we have changed the set up a bit to find more stability. In the final I started with number 8.

We were really fast but after 3 laps in an overtake maneuver I have flipped and I was last. I have pushed for the whole final to recover the gap. I also had a flame out at the second tyre change. I have changed all 4 tires 2 times. But neverthless, we are arrived in second place behind Bruno. I‘m realy happy for the result of the new car, and really happy for both Bruno'victory. The work of this winter is bringing its fruit."

  7. Ecco un bell'articolo censito da Jarno Pijpers

Last weekend I was at the second Dutch national championship at RMCA Almelo which is a small ASTRO-TURF track.

After the qualifications I had the fourth place. In the semi B I started behind Bart Mullink and I finished second. I had a good start in the A main. After a few laps behind Bart Mullink I made a mistake. It was a race between Sander, Jordy and me. After a while I had the third spot, a second behind Sander. But after a few laps , Bart Mulnik got an electronic failure at the lead. So Sander an I moved on to the first and second spot. After a while Sander made a mistake and I passed him. Then Jordy came closer to Sander and they where battling fore the second place. While they where battling I got a gap between me and the second. There where only 5 minutes left so I had to just drive to the end and it would end with me winning. My XRAY XB8 was easy to drive , so thanks to my dad for the set-up. Also my FX -K3 was great.

     Pre-cut for maximum comfort

     Super lightweight

     Rear pre-bent wicker area

     Adjustable position

 Center fins adds stability & strength

XRAY super lighweight 1/8 off-road lexan wing designed for a perfect fit to XB8 and working

in conjuction with the XRAY off-road bodies. The wing is produced from high-quality original

Lexan material and is completely pre-cut for maximum comfort.

The wing has an adjustable position and consists from two pieces, the main wing and the

center fin that adds more stability and increases strength of the wing around the mounting

area. The rear part of the wing is pre-bent to reinforce the wing and eliminates the use of

additional heavy composite wickers. This makes the back of the wing strong while still

allowing for wing flex in the crash. The pre-bent rear part for the wing is used also by

purpose as an important downforce area feature. Used by the factory team and suggested

    for all track conditions.

  12. Ecco un bell'articolo recensito da Bruno Coelho sulla gara italiana!

Last weekend held the 4th round of ETS 2016/2017 Session in Riccione, Italy.

The weather was one more time very good and the atmosphere between drivers was very good.

My car was impressive during all weekend leading from the qualifications until the finals. We are working hard to make our car faster and easy to drive and this weekend we were very happy about the performance of our car. Looking forward for the next race in Hudy Arena.

Thank you to all my sponsors for the great support and to the all crazy Italian guys around me and one more time a big thanks to Francesco Martini for the great work."

    Race report by Mattia Collina

During the practice my car was working very well, in qualifying I won Q2 and Q4 with a great car and that got me my first TQ.

In the finals i diden't have a luck on my side, two contact in A1 and A2 ruined my race, and forced me to a fourth final position.

  13. Last weekend the first north German outdoor race took place in Burgdorf.

The very nice astroturf track and the facilities welcomed the drivers with sunny weather, but a very cold and gusty eastern wind. As in previous years, the races hosted by the DMC (Deutscher Minicar Club) complain about less and less drivers every season. You have to attend these races if you would like to participate at the German national championships later this year.

Most drivers utilized the Saturday for practicing. On Sunday at 09:30 am the first of the three qualifiers started. At DMC races the qualifiers run over 7 minutes. My XB2 was easy to drive, but I had trouble with my transponder. Two laps were missing after each run. In the last qualifier we changed the transponder. The race management added two rounds in each run, but they used a slow time, so after qualifying I was on position 8. Due to the little number of drivers they decided to run the finals with seven cars. I started on pole of the B-Main. I had a drop out in the first B-Main, but was able to win the second and third run.

In 4WD I was able to manage 3rd after qualifying – my XB4 was smashing. As always Sebastian Honscha was a class of its own. I fighted for the second place with Christoph and was a little bit faster at the end. In Monster Truck Modified I was the only driver … I had to run one qualifier only to get all the points for the ranking. A good start into the outdoor season for me! A big thank you to the Burgdorf club members. The organisation was excellent as always.
