Ciao,
yes we do (in Finland) it's called GT-8 "spec" but it follows the rules
of the U.S GT racing i.e. 2-speed allowed but only shaft drive.
Hence, BMT cannot attend, only club races. Have a race tomorrow actually.
Next week 1st club race with BMT.

Interesting!! This consideration you made is in perfect time, and I tell you why: in Italy they're trying to split rally game into two categories: one shaft driven ( like we used to race some years ago ), one belt driven with 2speed gear box, like you have.



What's your opinion on that? Did you ever try your BMT in single-speed?

We're having many keyboard fights over this matter, somebody saying we should never allow 2-speed gerabox; others, on the other hand, saying it's just a matter of time before it happened and it's piontless to race single speed with 50 meters straights.....

If you had to race in Italy tomorrow, we'd tell you to get rid of gearbox. Would you enjoy to race your BMT in single speed? It's very interesting to hear some fresh point of view. Thanks!

Yes, I tried BMT with 1-speed and it would work on parking lot racing. However, races are done here
on tracks that have longer main straights, hence 2-speed is a must.

My opinion: If you plan to keep races on parking lots and smaller tracks/main straights
shortened by chicanes, then
a ) allow 2-speed tranny with shaft driven
b ) belt cars single speed

That would propably even the competition in the best way.

Mika, we don't have any history of belt driven 2 speed cars, since we used to derive rally game straight from off-road, hence we developed a single speed category. Actually I know only kyosho making shaft + gear box, but never spread so much here. Almost no races for that car.

There is a common opinion here in italy, that 2speed rally game will be much like the faster 1/8 , so there will be no point racing rally any more. It will bring rally to death. Don't you see too many similarities between rally w/2speed and 1/8?

Yes, like I said keep the belt cars 1-speed. Allow 2-speed only for the shaft drives.

Or keep it the way it is.

Rubber tires are still different from foams and rally cars have diffs unlike 1/8 onroad
--> you can still race on parking places even with 2-speeds
